Welcome to the world of Seed Cycling, where the ancient wisdom of botanicals meets modern hormonal harmony! At Seed Cycle, we have first-hand experience of hormonal imbalances - put simply - we know what you're going through!
With the help of our Seed Cycle products and guides, we aim to support you through the incredible monthly journey of your menstrual cycle with the hope of supporting your hormones and PMS symptoms, while enhancing fertility and overall wellbeing.
Why Seed Cycling?
The intricate dance of women's hormones can be disrupted by various factors such as
Diet
Exercise
Sleep
Stress and
Environmental toxins
Seed cycling emerges as a gentle yet effective practice to restore that delicate balance.
Hormonal imbalances can lead to concerns like
Irregular periods
Mood swings
Acne
PCOS
Thyroid disorders and
Chronic fatigue (to name a few)
Seed cycling becomes your ally in this hormonal dance, reducing PMS symptoms, boosting fertility, and even supporting menstruation and keeping your periods regular. It might not be a magic wand, but when consistently paired with other hormone-stabilising practices, it's a fantastic way to tap into the healing powers of food.
Understanding Your Menstrual Cycle
To embark on your seed cycling journey, fist let me explain how the menstrual cycle is divided into two main phases: the follicular and luteal phases.
Follicular Phase (Days 1-14*): From the first day of your period to ovulation, around 14 days.
Luteal Phase (Days 15-28*): From ovulation to your next menstrual bleed, another roughly 14 days.
*Please note that menstrual cycle lengths vary. The average cycle lasts 28 days but shorter or longer cycles (from 23 to 35 days) are normal too.

Balanced hormones explained
When hormones are balanced, oestrogen rises in the first half of your cycle, then naturally dips. After ovulation, at the start of the luteal phase, progesterone rises. Both hormones fall towards the end of your menstrual cycle, in preparation for your period and the stary of a new cycle.
An imbalance between these hormones can lead to the symptoms mentioned above.
When should I start Seed Cycling?

Luckily, seed cycling is easy to do and you can start at any time! During the follicular phase, consume 1-2 tablespoons of our ground, organic pumpkin seeds and flaxseeds each day.
Once you hit ovulation, switch to our ground, organic sunflower and sesame seeds to support you through the luteal phase.
You could either start at the beginning of Phase 1 or 2 or start taking the seeds mid-month - as with all things holistic - listen to your body and do what feels right.
For help in tracking your monthly cycle, download our Free Monthly Tracker. This can guide you to know when each Phase is due to start and how the changing phases correspond with your changing symptoms, such as mood and motivation.

No 28-day cycle? No worries! If you experience irregular cycles, stick to the 14-day cycle for each phase. This can nudge your body towards an optimal menstrual rhythm.
What If Your Period is Absent (Amenorrhea)?
Even if your period missing, you can still join the seed cycling party. Follow the phases of the moon as a general guide.
Days 1-14 (New Moon to Full Moon): Devour pumpkin and flax seeds.
Days 15-28 (Full Moon to New Moon): Relish sunflower and sesame seeds.
The moon's influence on your cycle might seem a bit mystical, but hey, it controls ocean waves and affects gravity, so why not your menstrual cycle too?
How Does Seed Cycling Support Hormone Harmony?
While there might not be a plethora of scientific studies directly linking seed cycling to hormonal balance, the evidence of the essential vitamins and minerals these seeds hold is well documented.
